Dark-skinned Dornfelder grapes are the most successful of the new varieties in the Pfalz region. They produce a slightly floral, full-bodied red, with medium tannins and acidity and flavors of dark cherry, blackberry, elderberry, and plums.  The addition of Citra hops during fermentation adds a spicy bitterness.
