The Path to Citizenship: A Complete List of CBC Related Events
Citizenship is not bestowed on a whim. It must be earned. In order to become eligible for consideration, you must attend 2 classes each day, from the selection below. At the end, you will be expected to know how to pronounce Nøgne-Ø, the proper context for using the phrase Dieu du Ciel!, and how many barrels are held within the walls of Brasserie Cantillon.
Marty’s Liquors (Newton, MA): The crew from Dieu du Ciel! will be in Boston and will likely be joined by Jonathan from Les Trois Mousquetaires for a tasting at Marty’s Newton location from 4-6 pm.
Tuesday, April 21st
Other Side Cafe (Boston, MA): MAIN EVENT in Boston on Tuesday: Shelton Brothers and Dogfish Head Brewery “Citizens of the World” Party, The Other Side, 407 Newbury Street, Boston. Starting about 7 p.m. Special foreign and domestic beers on tap, and a host of brewers from around the world to meet and share a drink with, including Peter of Ridgeway (England), Bryan Baird Brewing (Japan), Kjetil of Nøgne-Ø (Norway), Stephane and J-F of Dieu du Ciel! (Canada), Ron of Jolly Pumpkin, and of course Sam of Dogfish Head. No admission fee, pay as you drink, all cordially invited!
Monk’s Cafe (Philadelphia, PA): Jean Van Roy of Brasserie Cantillon and Yvan de Baets and Bernard Leboucq of Brasserie De La Senne will be holding court at Monk’s Cafe in Philly. SOLD OUT. (in like 12 minutes).
Sunset Grill (Allston, MA): Dieu du Ciel! will be on tap at Sunset Grill, with the brewery folks hanging out from 5:30-8:30.

Wednesday, April 22
Deep Ellum (Allston, MA): Beer Advocate’s “Welcome to Boston” Party, at 5 p.m., followed by Shelton Brothers’ “Citizens of the World” Gathering, starting at 7:30. Previously unseen and rare special foreign and domestic beers on tap. There to celebrate will be Todd and Jason, assorted Shelton Brothers, a host of brewers from around the world — including Peter of Ridgeway (England), Bryan Baird Brewing (Japan), Kjetil of Nøgne-Ø (Norway), Stephane and J-F of Dieu du Ciel!, and Ron of Jolly Pumpkin — and assorted other beer notables. No admission fee, pay as you drink, all cordially invited!

Seiyo Sushi (Boston, MA): Join Bryan Baird of Baird Brewing Company (Nakameguro, Japan) and Narihiro Suzuki of Ise Kadoya Microbrewery (Ise City, Japan) as they present their beers along with a special dinner. For lovers of sushi and beer, this is not to be missed.
Penguin Pizza(Boston, MA): Peter Scholey of Ridgeway Brewing will drop by from 4-6pm to present his beers.

Thursday, April 23
Deep Ellum (Allston, MA): MAIN EVENT! Shelton Brothers’ “Citizens of the World” Celebration, Deep Ellum, 477 Cambridge Street, Allston. Starting about 7 p.m., and going on from there. American beers from East of the Mississippi, rare and special foreign and domestic beers on tap, including gravity kegs of bock beers from God’s Beer Land — Franconia, plus New England artisanal ciders, and draft beers from Jolly Pumpkin, Russian River, and Sly Fox that are rarely seen in these parts. The Shelton Brothers will all be there, along with a host of brewers from around the world, including Jean of Cantillon, Yvan and Bernard of Brasserie de la Senne (Belgium), Stephan of Mahr’s (Germany) Peter of Ridgeway (England), Bryan Baird Brewing (Japan), Kjetil of Nogne O (Norway), Stephane and J-F of Dieu du Ciel!, and Ron of Jolly Pumpkin, Vinnie of Russian River, and assorted other beer glitterati. Wine Gallery (Brookline, MA): 5-7pm, Scandinavia meets a barrel aging American sour ale brewer? Now, this I gotta see. Brewers from Nøgne-Ø, Nørrebro Bryghus, and Jolly Pumpkin, and High & Mighty will be on the scene.
Gordon’s (599 Moody St, Waltham, MA): Terry from West Country Cider and Corrie and Steve from Farnum Hill Ciders will host a cider tasting from 4:30-6:30.
Friday, April 24
Publick House (Brookline, MA): Norway and Canada. Draft Dieu du Ciel! Maybe even draft Nøgne-Ø? It will come one day, will this be it? 7:30-9:30
Julio’s (Westboro, MA): Julio’s is turning Japanese with Bryan Baird of Baird Brewing Company (Nakameguro, Japan) and Narihiro Suzuki of Ise Kadoya Microbrewery (Ise City, Japan). 4-6pm
Federal Wine & Spirits (Boston, MA): Stephan Michel of Mahr’s Bräu (Bamberg, Germany) stops by to talk shop. 5-7pm. Wear your Mastodon T-shirt and receive a free autograph from Stephan.

Saturday, April 25
Julio’s (Westboro, MA): Returning from Western Mass, Jean, Yvan, and Bernard will stop off at Julio’s for an afternoon tasting. 1.30-3.30pm
Gordon’s (Watertown, MA): Continuing the tour, Jean, Yvan, and Bernard will be at Gordon’s from 4:30-6.30 or so.
Publick House (Brookline, MA): Cantillon and De La Senne beers pour from the taps. 7:30-9:30
Deep Ellum (Allston, MA): The Brewers of Brussels migrating here after the Publick House continuing as long as it takes. The last brewers still working within the city of Brussels will be there: Jean Van Roy, of the Brasserie Cantillon, and Yvan De Baets and Bernard Leboucq, of the Brasserie de la Senne, will be holding forth and sharing their beers. Other Belgian beers, and a few rare and interesting beers from around the world will be on tap. No admission fee, pay as you go, all cordially invited!

Novare Res (Portland, ME): Jean Van Roy, Yvan de Baets, and Bernard Leboucq along with the owners of the hippest beer bar in Brussels (Moeder Lambic) will do one final night in the US.

Spuyten Duyvil (Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY): Join Kjetil Jikiun (former BA mag coverboy) the crew from Norway’s Uncompromising Brewery, Nøgne-Ø for an evening of beer tasting.
