The full name of this beer is Gilbert du Motier, General Lafayette as it’s a tribute to the French general who greatly aided the colonies during the American Revolution. The brewery brewed this beer specifically for the US as a gesture of Franco-American friendship. It’s a malty 9% biere de garde with the characteristic spicy aroma and honey notes of a blonde farmhouse ale but with a generous dose of local hops to provide a very dry, lingering finish. As with all La Choulette beers, it’s cellar-conditioned for a minimum of 4 weeks.
