Expression Session is brewed as part of an ongoing collaboration between Freigeist & their friends from California’s Pizza Port. This classic, very hoppy Session IPA evidences the typical Pizza Port aesthetic, gaining much of its character from the combination of Mosaic and Pacific Jade hops. The special old-world twist comes from a decoction mash, a classic procedure in Germany for styles like doppelbock, pale and dark lager, and pilsner. Few breweries in the US are set up to handle this mashing procedure, which balances the intense hoppiness by imparting a characteristically full-bodied, smooth malt backbone.
